Interfaith Referrals Booth & Rainbow Chapel

Free opportunity to spread a message of love and share about our inclusive congregations.
Booth Location: TBA in June

United in Spirit is a coalition of LGBTQ+-inclusive spiritual communities across traditions, committed to justice, inclusion, and the full dignity of all people.

LGBTQ+-affirming churches, synagogues, mosques, and other religious and spiritual groups in the Bay Area are invited to participate in our Interfaith LGBTQ+-inclusive referrals booth and Rainbow Chapel at the San Francisco Pride Celebration (last weekend in June, Saturday and Sunday).

Why is the San Francisco Pride Celebration Important?

The San Francisco Pride Celebration held since 1970, is one of the oldest in the world. It not only a showcase and celebration of the Bay Area LGBTQ community; it also features a wide array of performers, artists and local flair. With over one million attendees, the celebration is a great opportunity to reach new audiences and share about our LGBTQ inclusive congregations, ministries, and religious groups.

What happens at our booth?

At our booth and Rainbow Chapel we offer a welcoming, visible witness that people of faith and spirit affirm and celebrate LGBTQ+ lives.

  • Connect people to affirming communities – We provide referrals to LGBTQ-affirming congregations and spiritual groups across the Bay Area.
  • Offer supportive resources – We share information about local and national organizations working for LGBTQ+ inclusion in faith communities.
  • Model interfaith unity – Together, we show that diverse faith traditions can stand united in affirming LGBTQ+ people.
  • Share a message of love – Participating groups help spread a public message of inclusion, justice, and belonging.
  • Be present with compassion – Volunteers listen, affirm, and engage respectfully with visitors from all backgrounds.
  • Provide spiritual care – Volunteers may offer prayer, blessings, and a supportive presence appropriate to diverse traditions.

How to participate?

You can participate in several ways — whichever works for you:

  • PROVIDE LITERATURE
Provide welcoming and informative materials about your congregation or organization for the referrals table. Giveaways such as blessing cards, prayer beads, water bottles, small items, or printed resources are especially effective when they include your contact information.
  • STAFF THE REFERRALS BOOTH
Send volunteers to engage visitors, answer questions, and share about your community.
  • VOLUNTEER AS A CHAPLAIN / SPIRITUAL CARE PROVIDER
Leaders from all traditions are invited to offer presence at the booth or Rainbow Chapel—providing conversation, prayer, blessings, communion, or other forms of spiritual support appropriate for a variety of traditions.
  • OFFER FEEDBACK
Share ideas to help improve the booth and experience.
  • REFER OTHERS
Share this page and invite other LGBTQ+-affirming communities or let us know who we should reach out to.

Thanks to a generous donor, there is no cost for participating congregations or organizations.

Notes on Participation

We recognize that some groups describe themselves as welcoming but may not provide an environment that fully affirms and include LGBTQ+ people. Therefore, all submitted materials are reviewed so that only fully affirming communities are presented to those seeking information.
